The Great Lakes National Cemetery Construction - Phase I

Giannetti Contracting is an underground utility construction company located in Detroit, Michigan, and Southern Florida. In recent years, Giannetti Contracting has played a key role in the completion of various large construction projects, including the first phase of the Great Lakes National Cemetery project. 


The comprehensive Great Lakes National Cemetery project took place on a work site of more than 30 acres in need of balancing. The property’s unique terrain necessitated landscaping and irrigation support, as well as the excavation and rebalancing of roads, curbs, and sidewalks. The bulk of the project’s first phase involved the installation of approximately 5,200 crypts, as well as a number of columbarium units.


Other significant aspects of the Great Lakes National Cemetery project included the construction of multiple buildings, such as an information center and mechanical garage. The Giannetti Contracting team was also responsible for the development of areas for memorial services and public services throughout the cemetery.
